Hoch
über dem Ammertal liegt in rund 1000 Metern die "Romanshöhe".
1977 haben Heinz Baumgartl und seine Frau Hildegard das
Berggasthaus erbaut. Mittlerweile lebt und arbeitet die
ganze Familie auf dem Berg. Die Tochter Monika, die es nach
der Ausbildung zur Hotelfachfrau nach Hause gezogen hat,
steht hinter dem Tresen, während Sohn Hubert den Kochlöffel
schwingt.

Serviert wird
in der gemütlichen Gaststube oder, wenn's warm genug
ist, auf der großen Terrasse. Dort sorgt die Lage
des Berggasthauses für einen zusätzlichen Augenschmaus:
Man sieht nicht nur Oberammergau, sondern auch den Laberberg,
die Notkarspitze und viele andere Gipfel der Ammergauer
Alpen. Nach dem Essen schlendert man gemütlich den
"Altherrenweg" zurück zum Parkplatz am "Wellenberg".
Der Panoramaweg ist für jedes Alter geeignet, zumal
er auch im Winter stets geräumt wird. |

Aufstieg
und Gehzeiten:

Mountain Restaurant Romanshöhe
High above the Ammer Valley lies "Romanshöhe" at
an altitude of about 1000 m, a mountain restaurant built by Heinz
Baumgartl and his wife Hildegard. In the mean time the entire
family has moved up on the mountain and lives there permanently.

Monika, returned home after her education to become a hotel
manager and now runs the counter and whereas the son Hubert
runs the kitchen. |

You will be served in the comfortable restaurant and if the weather
allows for it, the large terrace is open to guests as well. From
here, the location of the mountain restaurant offers you one more
feast for the eyes: not only do you have a clear view of Oberammergau,
but also the Laber Mountain, the Notkar Peak and many other peaks
of the Ammergau Alps are in clear and beautiful view. After your
meal, you can take a leisurely walk down the "Altherrenweg"
to the parking area at the "Wellenberg". This panoramic
stretch is also well suited for winter as the path is always cleared.

Journey:
By car: Autobahn 95 in the direction of Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
exit Murnau/Kochel, via the Federal Road 23 (B 23) to Oberammergau
via Bad Kohlgrub.
Parking possibilities: Freizeitzentrum (Activity Centre)
"Wellenberg", "Am Weiher" in Unterammergau.
Ascent and walking hours:
It takes you over an hour to hike from the railway station to
the restaurant. From the "Weiher" in Unterammergau or
from the Freizeitzentrum "Wellenberg" it takes you just
about an hour via the "Altherrenweg". Degree of difficulty:
